Andrés Barrios - Flamenco Pianist

Andrés Barrios Navarro, born in Utrera, Seville in 1997, is one of the leading flamenco pianists of his generation. Deeply rooted in the rich flamenco tradition of southern Spain, Andrés has developed a unique musical voice that blends the passion of flamenco with jazz, classical music, and world influences, creating a contemporary and highly personal artistic language.

Alongside his classical piano training, Andrés explored flamenco and jazz in a self-taught way from an early age, shaping the distinctive sound and versatility that define his performances today. He completed his Higher Degree in Piano at the Conservatorio Superior Bonifacio Gil in Badajoz under renowned pianist Ángel Sanzo, after graduating with Honors from the Conservatorio Francisco Guerrero in Seville. He later moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Master’s Degree in World Music.

Strongly inspired by Spanish nationalist composers such as Isaac Albéniz, Joaquín Turina, and Manuel de Falla, Andrés has become an exceptional and eclectic artist capable of combining tradition and innovation with extraordinary musical sensitivity.

His music has been performed at prestigious venues worldwide including Teatro Real, Auditorio Nacional de Música, Palau de la Música Catalana, Cadogan Hall, Alte Oper and the Blue Note venues in Beijing and Shanghai. He has also appeared at major international festivals including the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, Rheingau Musik Festival, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Essaouira World Music Festival.

In 2018, Andrés received the prestigious “Filón” Award for Best Instrumentalist at the International Festival del Cante de Las Minas. His acclaimed albums include “Al Sur del Jazz,” “De Barrios a Lorca: Rapsodia de Canciones Populares,” and “KM.0,” the latter earning a nomination for Best Flamenco Album at the Latin Grammy Awards.

His artistic projects range from solo piano recitals to orchestral collaborations and innovative crossover productions. In 2023 he made his debut at Teatro Real performing Manuel de Falla’s “Nights in the Gardens of Spain,” and later performed at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in tribute to his lifelong idol Paco de Lucía.
